DeSoto Trail Elementary

Mrs. Johnson leads the DTES Extended Day Enrichment Program (EDEP) with a focus on safety, structure, and student success. She oversees daily operations, staff training, lesson planning, registration, and parent communication, while creating engaging activities that support academic growth and social development.

Passionate about helping every child thrive, Mrs. Johnson brings creativity and organization to the program. Outside of EDEP, she co-owns a catering and special events business with her husband, Andre, and enjoys event design, travel, and time with their dog, Prince Bear Johnson.

Shemyia Stephens is the Assistant Manager of the DTES EDEP. She grew up in the Leon County School System, where she developed a strong appreciation for education and the impact of supportive learning environments. Drawing from her own experiences, Shemyia is passionate about working with children and creating spaces where they feel encouraged, supported, and empowered to grow.

In her role with EDEP, Shemyia enjoys helping students learn and develop outside of the traditional classroom setting. She values hands-on activities, positive relationships, and opportunities that allow children to build confidence, social skills, and independence. She is committed to fostering a safe, engaging, and nurturing environment where every child can thrive academically, socially, and emotionally.
