DeSoto Trail Elementary

Challenging each student to blaze a successful trail to the future.

Varying Exceptionalities

Varying Exceptionalities

Our Varying Exceptionalities program serves students in a full-time, self-contained classroom designed to meet diverse learning needs. Instruction is based on a specialized curriculum aligned with each student’s cognitive level as documented through an Individualized Education Program (IEP), helping them access grade-level standards in a way that works for them. Students receive individualized support in core subjects—reading, math, science, and social studies—as well as social skills development. Whenever possible, they participate in special area classes and school activities to promote inclusion and engagement.

Hello! My name is Samantha Campbell, and I am so excited to begin my teaching career at DeSoto Trail. I am committed to creating an inclusive, supportive classroom for students to learn and grow. My goal is for every student to feel valued and encouraged to reach their full potential!

I grew up around Atlanta, Georgia, and I graduated with a BS in Special Education from Florida State University (Go Noles!). Outside of school, I enjoy spending time with my friends and family, going for walks, listening to music, and watching college football.

Hi, I’m Mrs. Wells, one of the Varying Exceptionalities teachers here at DeSoto Trail. I’m passionate about supporting diverse learners and helping every Trailblazer reach their full potential and thrive. Before stepping into ESE four years ago, a role I truly love, I taught music for 17 years. I hold a master’s degree in Music Education from the University of Tennessee and certifications in music education, elementary education, and exceptional student education.

Outside of school, I enjoy traveling, spending time outdoors with my family, reading, and playing the piano.
