Welcome to Fourth Grade at DeSoto Trail, Trailblazing Since 1989!

In fourth grade, look forward to a year filled with learning and excitement. Expectations are higher and the workload is more challenging, but the rewards are many. This year, students will become more organized and independent as they prepare for fifth grade. They will also learn how to navigate a variety of engaging digital programs that supplement classroom instruction and enhance learning.
 
Fourth graders will continue to develop reading strategies and skills through instruction aligned to the Florida BEST Standards. Writing lessons will focus on expository and argumentative essays with an emphasis on text evidence, language mechanics, and writing conventions. Students are encouraged to develop a love of reading by engaging in reading at home every day. The fourth-grade team provides a variety of opportunities and activities that inspire students to read, grow, and build strong literacy skills that support lifelong learning.
